Cosmo Staffer Sues Over Crime of Fashion (Week)

SS06furstenberg.jpgFashion Week proved dangerous this fall when a bank of lights fell at Diane von Furstenberg‘s Sept. 11 show and injured some womens’ mag attendees. Karen Hanes de Larrain, Cosmopolitan‘s fashion market directior, sued the designer on Sept. 16 for medical compensation as well as payment for pain and suffering. De Larrain had two contusions (we love that word) that required 30 stitches, accompanied by a concussion. She says she cannot work and is still “shaky and dizzy” weeks after the show. For her part, von Furstenberg’s people say the designer offered to pay de Larrain’s medical bills, but have not heard from her.

Since Fashion Week is in fact kind of scary, the notion of Fashion Week collapsing on your head must instill a kind of terror unique to fashion editors. But we’re excited. This is going to be the best-dressed courtroom in New York since Claus von Bulow took the stand.
