Daily Beast Launches Entertainment & Fashion Section Sexy Beast

sexy beast.jpgIt’s only fitting that Tina Brown‘s online publication The Daily Beast would launch its new fashion and entertainment section, Sexy Beast, on the first day of Fashion Week in New York.

The new section collects all of the Web site’s fashionable content, including new articles about designer Yigal Azrouël who was rumored to have had stolen away Billy Joel‘s young wife Katie Lee Joel and a gallery of hunky photos from heartthrobs like Tom Cruise and Matt Damon in their younger days.

And since tonight is Fashion Night Out tonight in New York, you’d be wise to check out Sexy Beast’s guide to the 10 craziest events happening tonight.

If you want to learn more about Sexy Beast and The Daily Beast’s upcoming projects, former Mediabistro.com editorial director Rebecca Fox — who was named The Daily Beast’s director of editorial development and operations earlier this summer — will be on the Morning Media Menu tomorrow morning.

Update: Daily Beast executive editor Edward Felsenthal tells FishbowlNY, “We’re launching Sexy Beast because our readers have responded so strongly to our fashion and entertainment stories. And with the launch of an L.A. bureau, led by Gabe Doppelt, we plan on deepening our coverage in these areas.”

Earlier this summer, Doppelt, who has worked with Brown at Tatler and Talk, left W‘s West Coast bureau to lead the Daily Beast’s new bureau in Los Angeles.
