Did the Voice Refuse to Show Wemple the Money?

Few official details have emerged since Washington City Paper editor Erik Wemple abruptly unhired himself as editor of the Village Voice late last week — just a month before he was to start and three days after he met with the Voice staff to outline his vision for the paper — though plenty have been discussed. One theory making the media rounds is that executives at the Voice refused to disclose the editorial budget to Wemple, and that he’d have to fire a specific staffer.

And, as FishbowlDC reports, Wemple’s going away party in D.C. is still on, now with a decidedly different theme:
