Donald Trump Enters Mosque Debate… With Money, Of Course
You knew it was coming. Where there is controversy, or at least a chance to claim the spotlight, there’s Donald Trump.
Apparently, the real estate mogul has offered to buy out one of the investors in the Lower Manhattan mosque for 25 percent more than he paid for the site. The all-cash offer also stipulates that, if built, the mosque and cultural center must move at least five blocks further from Ground Zero.
“I am making this offer as a resident of New York and citizen of the United States, not because I think the location is a spectacular one (because it is not),” Trump said in a letter sent to CBS News. “But because it will end a very serious, inflammatory, and highly divisive situation that is destined, in my opinion, to only get worse.”
