Ed Lover Makes Brief Return on Hot 97

Already known for his rapping career, Ed Lover began life in a different way with a microphone. From 1993 to 1998, Lover was co-host of the highly rated Hot 97/WQHT morning show with Dr. Dre’.

Also in the 1990s, Lover and Dre’ teamed up each afternoon on Yo! MTV Raps.

Today, though, Lover came full circle, hosting Hot 97′s Throwback at Noon. Making the appearance even more special, Lover ushered in the return of his beloved Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts on MTV2 Sunday.

The MTV Throwback-themed live broadcast had Lover spinning music dedicated to the people who fell in love with hip-hop.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been on HOT 97 and it’s an honor and a pleasure to be back,” says Lover.  “I think it’s great that Yo! MTV Raps is coming back because it had such an impact on making hip-hop the global entitity that it is today.”

Lover can also be heard weekly on HOT 97′s sister station, 98.7 KISS FM’s Friday Night Flavor with Ed Lover every week from 7 p.m. to midnight.
