Fareed Zakaria to Leave Newsweek: Report

zakaria08182010.pngFareed Zakaria, editor of Newsweek International, Washington Post columnist, TV-show host and all-around franchise player for Newsweek, is leaving the magazine, according to Business Insider.

A source tells BI that Zakaria will leave the magazine at the end of September, and the Newsweek sales team has been alerted to his departure.

Zakaria is the latest, and one of the biggest, in a series of high-profile departures from the magazine during its transition from parent company The Washington Post Co. into the hands of stereo magnate Sidney Harman. News of Evan Thomas‘ departure broke last week, and we’ve also recently seen editor Jon Meacham and reporter Michael Isikoff, among others, head for the door.
