Gawker’s Pareene Goes to Salon (and We Don’t Mean the Hairdresser)

pareenepic04072010.jpgAlex Pareene, politics writer for Gawker, is leaving for Salon.com, reports the New York Observer. He will be blogging for Salon’s “War Room.”

“They wanted me and they gave me a good offer and seemed really excited to have me,” Pareene told the Observer. Amazingly, Pareene, a former blogger for Wonkette, has been at Gawker Media in some capacity for five years, and he’s only 24!

Night and weekend editor Maureen O’Connor will be joining Gawker’s full-time staff, and — update your resumes! — Gawker plans on hiring to fill one more, maybe a couple more, positions.

Pareene’s departure follows closely behind that of Gawker investigative reporter John Cook, who jumped ship for Yahoo! on April 1.
