This just in from Giant, the men’s magazine that has seen plenty of turnover in its short existence, including an apparent sudden exodus of editorial staff:

NEW YORK — April 12, 2006 — GIANT magazine, the “ultimate entertainment magazine” announced today the hiring of Vibe magazine founding editor Scott Poulson-Bryant as its Editorial Director. Bryant will report to recently appointed Editor-in-Chief Smokey Fontaine to help guide the magazine’s direction. The two previously worked together at america magazine, and co-authored What’s Your HI-FI Q? (Simon & Schuster) in 2002.

In addition to Poulson-Bryant, Fontaine and GIANT magazine Founder and President Jamie Hooper rounded out the editorial team with five other publishing industry veterans:

  • Graham Rounthwaite: Creative Director [Former award-winning Art Director of america and The Face (UK) Magazines]
  • Julia Albu: Managing Editor (formerly of Absolute Magazine)
  • Aixa Weekes: Market Editor
  • Designers Craig Tilford (formerly of The Face) & Rich Morgan

“We are pleased to welcome the new members of our editorial team to our GIANT staff,” said Jamie Hooper, Founder and President of GIANT magazine. “Together with Smokey Fontaine, we are confident that the new team will take the magazine in a direction that will be both well received by our devoted readership and will attract new fans to the magazine.”

  • Meanwhile, as Gawker reports, the magazine’s ex-staffers have created a mock cover satirizing Cooper.
