Harper’s Bazaar Turns To 13-Year-Old For Fashion Advice

Tavi Gevinson is a 13-year-old fashion blogger poised to take on the age statute of fashion-forwardness. She was Fashion Week’s big celebrity in the front row this fall, and she’s managed to convince the world of designers and A-listers that even though she’s in middle school, she knows what women twice her age should be wearing this season with her blog Style Rookie.

And now Gevinson has a column in Harper’s Bazaar‘s January issue. And while the magazine’s publisher Hearst Corp. is no stranger to young fashionistas (ahem, Lydia and Amanda), we have to wonder, is this a legitimate trend piece or just a gimmick to boost Bazaar‘s sales? And will women seriously take a 13-year-old’s advice on fashion during a time when most the women reading Harper‘s have a daughter her age?
