Hearst + Sears + Yahoo = New Media Deal-O-Rama

0304hearst.jpgHearst Magazines wants to diversify. Their media empire has taken a harder hit from the digital transition than certain other companies — which may have encouraged them to enter upcoming deals with Sears and Yahoo!.

  • Sears: The troubled department store chain (who, of course, also own Kmart) has entered into a huge multimedia deal with Hearst, which is creating a cobranded website and a 32-page booklet titled “Reimagine You” that will be distributed with Hearst magazines and newspapers. Hearst green media site thedailygreen.com will also add Sears content.

  • Yahoo!: Yahoo!’s new Digg-inspired news aggregator, Yahoo! Buzz, has inked a content sharing deal with Hearst. Headlines and abstracts from Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Redbook and other titles are now going to be featured in Yahoo! Buzz in a nice little orgy of link love.
