Idol and Dancing Hold Usual Top Spots in Weekly Ratings

American Idol was, once again, the number one show of the week in New York. The Wednesday night performance show got an estimated 1.9 million viewers with a 9.5 rating on Fox 5/WNYW, according to the Nielsen Company. The elimation show settled in at number three for the week (1.6 million/8.2).

Dancing With The Stars held the second (1.7 million/8.4), fourth (1.3 million/6.4), and seventh (866,000/4.3) positions on WABC.

60 Minutes, just hours before news broke about the death of Osama Bin Laden, was fifth (921,000/4.6).

As for Bin Laden, NBC News’ breaking news Sunday night, anchored by Brian Williams, reached number six (895,000/4.4). Coverage on ABC, also from 10:45 p.m. to midnight, was 15th for the week (693,000/3.4).

The breaking news on CNN in the 10:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot was tied for 24th (556,000/2.8).
