Magazines Becoming Increasingly “Device Dependent” Thanks To New Technology

mygazine_3.4.10.jpgQuite recently we’ve seen how Vogue and The Village Voice have jumped on the bandwagon by creating apps related to their content.

Now Harris Publishing, which specializes in consumer enthusiast titles, has begun using “Mygazines Mobile” – a service which offers digital editions of publications across mobile devices using a mobile web browser. The service allows users to flip pages and zoom in and out without any additional application charge.

Chris Searle, the digital manager and a graphic designer at Harris, says the company went with the service because it “had the look and feel of the magazine with its own identity” and that implementing it has lead to an increase in reader subscriptions, which gives hope that magazines aren’t “dying” so much as being reincarnated in a new format.
