This week, Better Homes and Gardens debuted a new look in its June 2009 issue -- with enhanced health coverage, a new front-of-book section and a more modern design update -- in the hopes of making the magazine "lighter, brighter and easier to navigate," publisher Meredith Corp. said.

The redesign will include updated fonts and visuals, as well as a dotted-line armature that will help to create structure and form, the company added.

The new Better Homes and Gardens will also include a new front-of-book section, called "Fresh," which will focus on the home and community. "Fresh" will feature a monthly "must-have," or new thingsto do or try from month to month; seasonal entertaining tips; the latest in home and consumer technology products; and home products with an eye towards value.

"We're always looking at ways to enhance the incredible bond we have with our readers," said Gayle Butler BHG's editor-in-chief. "We know their lives are constantly evolving and believe these new features along with the engaging design elements reflect this unique connection and understanding."

Shelter magazines have suffered greatly during the current media crisis -- like Domino, which folded earlier this year -- so hopefully this redesign will help keep BHG in business.
