Does the New Yorker Need to Re-Touch its Facts?
Do you know how much retouching was on that? But it was great to do, a challenge, to keep everyone's skin and faces showing the mileage but not looking unattractive. Not so fast. While most of us would be willing to assume the New Yorker fact-check department could give the CIA a run for their money, according to an article in today's Independent the campaign Dangin was actually referring to was an earlier one done with Annie Leibovitz. Says Dangin: The recent article published in the New Yorker incorrectly implies that I retouched the images in connection with the Dove 'real women' ad. I only worked on the Dove ProAge campaign taken by Annie Leibovitz, and was directed only to remove dust and do color correction – both the integrity of the photographs and the women's natural beauty were maintained. The article also goes on to say that Elizabeth Hurley retouches her holiday photographs in case you ever get your hands on her photo albums we didn't want you to feel bad.
