The idea is to give people "an uncensored view of the world around them," says Mike Hammer, also former editor-in-chief of Stuff. The debut issue of Shock features photos of a rotting human head, deformed victims of Chernobyl, a woman who set herself on fire and an article on "KKK Kids," children growing up in white-supremacist households.

Side note: We'd like all editors everywhere to retire the "TK for the New Millenium" phrase — six years into it means it's been walking, talking and annoying everyone long enough to no longer qualify as "new."
