Mayor Bloomberg Loses Weekly Radio Call-In Show

radcity.jpg

It is a mini-New York tradition that that the Mayor has a call-in show on Friday mornings on WABC to answer questions from his constituents. Rudy Giuliani, for example, generally used that opportunity of air time to bark at those who dared to share his radio waves. Our media-mogul Mayor Bloomberg, by contrast, was a far more civil sort of chap. But with the abrupt firing of John Gambling, he has lost his sounding board. From Newsday:

”’The mayor likes the opportunity to talk to New Yorkers, to talk about what he’s done that week,’ said Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser. ‘He can move beyond the sound bites and short quotes that TV news and radio news and print news leave him with.’

”… Loeser said the mayor had received a couple of offers and is weighing them. His advice to fans of the forum: ‘Stay tuned.”’

And, of course, there’s always Bloomberg radio.
