Media Miscellany: 04.25.2005:

Alessandra Stanley swipes equally at Katie Couric (“At the first sound of her peremptory voice and clickety stiletto heels, people dart behind doors and douse the lights”) and Diane Sawyer (“something has to be very wrong with NBC’s “Today” if viewers are turning to ABC’s Diane Sawyer as a refreshingly wholesome, down-to-earth alternative”), exacerbating Jeff Zucker’s ulcer in the process.

Come blog with me! Arianna Huffington talks to the NYT’s Katharine Q. Seelye about her upcoming celeb-studded blog, which will feature random musings from, inter alia, Walter Cronkite, David Frum, Nora Ephron, Gwyneth Paltrow, Warren Beatty, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Diane Keaton, Norman Mailer and Radar moneyman Mort Zuckerman. (Norman Mailer blogs too?) The Huffington Post launches May 9th (to be syndicated soon after). Crib notes for the above courtesy of Joe Hagan.

MSM redux: Slate’s Mickey Kaus takes issue with “The MSM’s Weekly Fraud” perpetrated by Albom, Shaw, the NYT and every post-dating mainstream media outlet that slaps a less-than-accurate date on its stories. This guy, meanwhile, would no doubt take issue with Kaus over his use of the hated term “MSM.”
