...just because there are lots of good little things on them internets today and I feel like sharing. To wit:
Here's to the ladies who hat! The NYT chats with some ladies who like wearing fun red hats, accenting them with a regal purple. Does anyone still wear a hat? And one for Mahler! I know at least one person who got that.
Here's to the Graydies who, uh, might eventually take over at Vanity Fair: VF editor Graydon Carter is flying high on the Deep Throat-breaking story, but that hasn't stopped the oddsmakers and books-cookers over at Oddjack from inviting us to sin against the Lord by placing bets on a likely successor. Is it me or has retirement made former NY Press editor Jeff Koyen even more cranky? Lighten up, Jeff! Wear a red hat!
Faint praise, indeed. Said to Greta Van Susteren by an airport clerk: 'I don't mean to offend you... but you look like that newscaster on FOX.' Ouch. Don't worry, Greta, you're still way hotter than Bill O'Reilly. [via

Yay! India's Bangalore-iffic! New York Times op-ed superstar Tom Friedman loves Bangalore, which we knew from his book "The World is Flat," and today's op-ed column. And other op-ed columns, which irritates the hell out of Peter Landesman's buddy Jack Shafer, who whipped off a column of his own in response to what he sees as Friedman's blatant self-promotion in the pages of the NYT, where he oft-employs variations on the word "flat" to describe the, uh, world. But that mustache! It's blinding! Can you imagine the power of that thing paired with Lloyd Grove's belt buckle? Where are my smelling salts, I'm woozy.
We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files...But maybe, CJR's Brian Montopoli, you've shared too much. Actually, this article about trying to come up with the perfect headline to honor Anne Bancroft is funny and sweet. But, anyway you look at it, we lose. I guess that's the point. [CJR]
Gawker Media: Givin' us the Big O It's offical, or as official as it's gonna get before Monday: Editor & Publisher's Jesse Oxfeld (formerly of Fishbowl's sugar daddy Mediabistro.com) will end the revolving door of guest editors and join iron-fisted Gawker editrix Jessica Coen at the reins of the popular NYC blog to which we have no association. NB we said JOIN, not replace - apparently Coen's not going anywhere until Matt Drudge acknowledges her, dammit. Attention must be paid.
Go on with you and have a good night. Place a bet. Love India. Wear a red hat.
