Colbert Raises $59,000 For South Carolina Public Schools
How about some positive news for Thanksgiving? Stephen Colbert's Presidential campaign -- Doritos torilla chips, anyone? -- raised some eyebrows in media circles. But in order to spare these United States of America another protracted Supreme Court battle, he bowed out of the race after being refused a spot on the ballot in South Carolina (''The general sense of the council was that he wasn't a serious candidate''). Colbert also managed to raise a nice piece of change for public schools in South Carolina, although few noticed. From MSNBC: ''When Colbert announced last month that he was running for president, the Charleston native and host of Comedy Central's 'The Colbert Report' also asked viewers to give to DonorsChoose.org, which helps fulfill teacher wish lists for books, globes or other classroom materials in schools in the United States. Thank you, Stephen Colbert. (image via kttc) Email This Post |
