Countown-Lowdown-Clooney-HuffPo Smackdown
Lloyd Grove took time between rounds in the Countdown-Lowdown-Smackdown to stick his head in on the George Clooney-Arianna Huffington undercard (or, rather, the main event): Clooney told me: "Nobody has ever written an op-ed piece for me. If I say I've written something, I've written it. When I go to the Oscars, I write everything I say...I stand by what I do, but I'm very cautious not to take giant steps onto soapboxes because I think they're polarizing." Huffington, meanwhile, remained an "unrepentant evangelist" despite the dustup though she did revise her policy of relying on publicists' approval when recruiting Oscar winners: So while this is definitely the last time I'll rely on an okay-to-publish from a publicist, it most assuredly won't be the last time I'll recruit for the blogosphere and try to get the uninitiated to blog.
