James Truman Finally Gets His Art Magazine (Or Several)

Condé Nast's former Editorial Director/In-House Decorator, James Truman, is abandoning his current occupation of traipsing around Europe full-time to become the CEO of arts/culture-focused LTB Media. We knew the traipsing wouldn't last.

LTB ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF JAMES TRUMAN AS CEO AND MANAGING EDITOR 18 October 2005: LTB Holding Ltd, one of the world's leading arts and cultural information providers, is delighted to announce the appointment of James Truman, former Editorial Director of Condé Nast, as its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Editor.

Full release after the jump.

"We are all delighted that James has joined LTB" said Louise T Blouin MacBain, Chairman of LTB. "James brings a wealth of experience, a passion for the arts, and shares our interest in promoting culture worldwide." James Truman joins LTB Holding after eleven years as Editorial Director at Condé Nast Publications in New York, where he oversaw the editorial content of the company's seventeen publications, which include Vogue, GQ, Glamour, Wired and Vanity Fair. He was also responsible for launching new titles, such as the highly successful shopping titles, Lucky, Cargo, and Domino (he also oversaw the design of the company's new headquarters in Times Square, which includes a new space by Frank Gehry). Prior to his appointment as Editorial Director, James Truman edited the men's magazine Details, quadrupling its circulation in four years. During his last two years at Condé Nast, James Truman set up an incubator group to develop an arts magazine for Condé Nast. He left the company in January to pursue his interest in art. James Truman's appointment coincides with the planned phase two launch of Artinfo.com, LTB's online cultural platform for the arts, and the development of several new international cultural publications at LTB. James Truman says "LTB provides the perfect platform for publishing innovative magazines in the areas of art, design and creativity. I am delighted to be here."

LTB promotes culture around the world through its 20 periodical magazines, 30 annuals and 130 book titles which reach an audience of over 14 million, and via Artinfo.com, its internet platform, as well as through other events and activities organized to promote culture and creativity through the Louise T Blouin Foundation. LTB provides a neutral marketing platform for the arts and already works with over 2,000 museums and galleries worldwide.
