Mike Slezak Leaves Entertainment Weekly For TVLine.com

Mike Slezak is leaving his longtime post at Entertainment Weekly and EW.com for TVLine.com, where he’ll work as the site’s senior editor.

Staff memo from EW executive editor Kristen Baldwin appears after the jump.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the departure of Mike Slezak, who will be leaving EW at the end of this month to join TVLine.com as a senior editor.

For the last six years Mike has brought his boundless creativity and passion for all things pop culture to EW and EW.com. His hilarious and obsessively thorough recaps of “American Idol” — in addition to his smart analysis and unflinching contestant interviews on Idolatry — helped establish EW.com as the premier online destination for Idol fans. During the off-season Mike also launched the popular annual EWwy awards and created this year’s massively successful Sexy Beast bracket game, which earned over 1.5 million votes. Year over year, the traffic on our award-winning site is up an amazing 33%, and we are grateful to Mike for his contribution.

As a colleague, I am sorry to see him go; as a friend I am excited for him to embrace this new opportunity and take the next step in his career.

Please join me in thanking Mike for six years of outstanding work and wishing him well on his new venture.
