Dual Mafia Movie-Book Deal For Weinsteins

Tom Folsom (Mr. Untouchable) is a very lucky man right now. The Weinstein Company just inked a dual book-movie deal for his upcoming The Mad Ones: Crazy Joe and the Revolution at the Edge of the Underworld. The new Weinstein Books imprint — first titles will be released in September — has been on a buying spree as of late.
The book tells the story of "Crazy Joe" Gallo, the mobster whose life inspired a Bob Dylan song (Joey) and parts of The Godfather Part II. Gallo's life was previously fictionalized by Jimmy Breslin in The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight — Folsom has a record of solid crime writing and it will be interesting to see where he takes this one.
Random Gallo fact: He was good friends with late actor Jerry Orbach, and his 1972 wedding was even held in Orbach's apartment.
