Nash 94.7 to Become WNSH; Flagship of National Country Programming

Now that Country is making its mark on the New York airwaves again, Cumulus wasted little time in announcing its strategy.

NASH 94.7 launched yesterday, temporarily using the call letters WRXP. We now know that when the dust clears the Country station will become WNSH next week.

Beyond that, 94.7 is the flagship for Cumulus’ national Country plans. The NASH creation is a multi-platform brand focused on the country music lifestyle. There will be radio stations, a monthly magazine, website, social media, concerts, and television programming.

“Country is more than just music — it’s a lifestyle that is rich with content and marketing opportunities because Country is mass appeal and very much underserved in all forms of media,” said Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey.“Cumulus is committed to serving this significant lifestyle segment that stretches from coast-to-coast by creating a full complement of content on the radio, in print, online and on TV.”

NASH radio programming will include live shows, some originating from Nashville, and will be available to stations throughout the day through Cumulus Media Networks. All Country stations owned by Cumulus will feature the NASH brand and content.

The NASH debut marks the first Country radio outlet in New York City since 1996.
