Neither Snow, Nor Rain, Nor Heat, Nor Gloom of Night Stays Arianna From Her Guests

rupehuff.pngNot many people could host a book party at a hotel in mid-town during a driving rain storm and expect a good turn-out. But a lot of people aren’t Arianna Huffington whose party at the Chambers Hotel for her newly released “Right Is Wrong: How the Lunatic Fringe Hijacked America, Shredded the Constitution, and Made Us All Less Safe,” last Friday night (a Friday, no less!) drew a fairly impressive array of media folk.

Swirling around the Arianna vortex we managed to rub elbows (literally, the place was packed) with Mort Zuckerman, Tom Freston, Nick Denton, Lloyd Grove, Eric Alterman. We bumped into Julia Allison chatting it up with party host Jann Wenner, and spotted Larry David against a far wall (MUCH taller than we would have assumed). It was also nearly impossible to miss Charlie Rose deep in his own tete-a-tete with Rupert Murdoch — we did attempt an inconspicuous lean-in hoping to glean whatever inside info we could, alas the only new tidbit we came away with was provided by another party guest altogether who told us that Rupe has the softest hands of anyone he’d ever met, with the exception of Amanda Lepore (draw your own conclusions). Intrepid Gawker photog Nikola Tamindzic was seen snapping away so one assumes photo evidence of the evening will be forthcoming.
