Never Ask for Directions Again! Mayor Launches New NYC Info Center and Website

infocennyc.pngWhitehouse.gov is not the only one revamping its online presence. Mayor Mike Bloomberg is also helping to spread New York City’s wings on the Internets.

Yesterday the Mayor along with NYC&Co. launched the city’s new Official NYC Information Center in midtown Manhattan as well as nycgo.com, an online resource for exploring New York City. The center and the website are aimed at both visitors and residents and will offer information on hotels, dining, attractions and events, as well as included a calendar of New York City’s cultural events based on recommendations from Time Out, Paper, and the New York Observer.

Additionally the new information center has partnered with Google to set up a interactive mapping capability that can be sent directly to your mobile phone. A feature that can only spell good news for cab drivers everywhere. Not only that, visitors to the center will be able to “virtually” explore the city via slew of touch screens (think CNN magic wall) and international tourists will have at their disposal information kiosks in nine foreign languages. The newly opened center is located at 810 Seventh Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Streets.
