New Chicago Sun-Times Chairman Lives in Dallas
The Chicago Sun-Times is undergoing some serious changes. Most notably, the paper’s parent organization — Sun-Times Media Group Inc. — is getting a new chairman: Jeremy Halbreich. The former general manager of the Dallas Morning News will replace Cyrus Freidheim who resigned after the company’s board was taken over by shareholders sick of losing money. Halbreich will remain in Dallas, but plans to spend a couple days a week in the Windy City.
Editor Michael Cooke is leaving to join his former colleagues John Cruickshank at the Toronto Star.
John Barron was bumped from general manager to publisher at the Sun-Times.
What a fun time to be in the newspaper business.
