New Jared Kushner-Backed Lifestyle Mag Will Definitely Annoy You

(Via Gawker)

Three staffers from Avenue, the Manhattan Media publication, are leaving to create a new lifestyle magazine that is going to be backed by Jared Kushner. According to the New York Observer, Avenue’s Publisher, Julie Dannenberg, Editor-in-Chief, Peter Davis, and Creative Director, Cricket Burns, will all be part of the yet to be named new title.

While Avenue targeted Upper East Siders, the new magazine will be different, said Dannenberg. “We are not an Upper East Side magazine, but a magazine for the affluent household, not defined by neighborhood or by age but by mutual interests and similar demographics,” wrote Dannenberg in an e-mail to The Observer. Wait. Aren’t Upper East Siders affluent? We think they are, but maybe we should look into that again.

As you can guess by Dannenberg’s statement, the new glossy will cover high brow events and people. Just in case you aren’t irritated yet, Davis had something to add.

“We are fascinated with what’s next, whether it be a hotel (we already have the insider scoop on The Standard’s new East Village location), to a handbag, to the girl of the second that has the style world swooning,” said Davis. “We will keep you talking and guessing all year, and all night long.”

Annoyed yet? No? Okay, let’s have Dannenberg chime in on how amazing Davis and Burns are. “Peter Davis is a Buckley boy, has over 15,000 Facebook followers, and has written for every prestigious magazine on the planet,” explained Dannenberg. “He is always the most popular man at the party. Cricket Burns is herself a Sacred Heart girl with two Sacred Heart girls of her own.”

There it is! There is no way you just read a grown woman boast about another adult’s Facebook followers and being popular at parties without rolling your eyes.

We can’t wait to read this new magazine. If nothing else, it will be completely hilarious.
