According to the Times Newmark is also hoping to capitalize on his enormous success by promoting "causes that include supporting the Barack Obama campaign and financing investigative journalism." Apparently there is also a possible showdown looming with eBay — Newmark seems to be suffering seller's remorse and wants to explore repurchase options. As for single-handedly bringing the newspaper industry to its knees? It's just an "urban myth," he says.
