Newspaper Layoffs From Sea to Shining Sea

usa2.jpgIn an era of declining newspaper advertising revenue, layoffs are inevitable. The latest: nine gone from the San Jose Mercury, according to our sister-in-arms, FishbowlLA. The paper’s execs seek volunteers, but staffers have one day to decide and will be let go on Friday.

Back on the East Coast, the Tribune Co.-owned Baltimore Sun will let go 100, according to Julekha Dash at Baltimore Business Journal. But hey, at least the paper’s building isn’t for sale. Yet.

It’s high time for a Magazine Death Pool spin-off.
