Siberia, the grizzled Midtown dive bar where Jayson Blair purportedly filed some of his infamous road reporting to the Times copy desk, is closing. While no CBGBs, it holds a special place in a many a NYC journo's heart — owing perhaps to the fact that the Times building, Reuters and Viacom are only a few blocks away from its spot on 40th street and 9th avenue.

Owner Tracy Westmoreland, who cites a dispute with the building's landlord, hopes to keep the bar alive — online. Westmoreland told the Observer's Transom he felt like he was "getting jerked off by an 800-pound gorilla." OK, then.
