Newsweek acknowledges bloggy love

This is interesting: In addition to its “Most Emailed Stories”
feature, Newsweek has added a “Most Blogged About Stories” to
its site. Is this a harbinger of a trend?

The brainchild of Newsweek.com editor Deidre Depke, they apparently rolled it out quietly a few weeks ago with little fanfare (though the true technobs at ZDNet picked it up) and have been bloggin’ up a storm ever since, channelling the steady hum of chatter straight through via the wonders of Technorati, which seems to be on track for a world-takeover fairly soon (question to ponder: is Technorati the new Google?).

Newsweek is the first to innovate thusly; arch-nemesis Time doesn’t have it yet (though its most emailed list offers the top
five of the day, week, and month)(wow!) 50 Coolest Websites
tops all three – and it was posted on June 20th!). In-ter-esting. Can the NYT and the rest of the gang be far behind?
