OK! No Longer Paying Barr Tab

OK! has released publisher Stephen Barr just seven months into his tenure.  According to NYPost.com, a spokesperson for the U.S. version of the celebrity news mag said no replacement has been named.  Barr took over for Lori Burgess in April to become OK!’s third publisher since their 2005 launch.

Barr’s departure is a bit of a head scratcher when considering the recent uptick in ad sales.  Media Industry Newsletter indicates that OK! improved sales by 21 percent through Monday’s issue and a magazine spokesperson said that newsstand sales have risen since Richard Spencer signed on as editor-in-chief in early October.  While sales remain up, circulation was way down for the first half of 2010.  OK! fell short of the rate base promised to advertisers by more than 100,000 copies and newsstand circulation dropped by nearly 10 percent.
