On The Menu: TV Producer Lisa R. Cohen Discusses Her Book About Famous Child Disappearance Case

Today on the media- bistro.com Morning Media Menu podcast, hosts Jason Boog of GalleyCat and AgencySpy‘s Matt Van Hoven welcomed Lisa R. Cohen, an Emmy award winning television news magazine producer and author of “After Etan.”

Cohen, Boog and Van Hoven all discussed the day’s media headlines, including TechCrunch’s decision to publish documents stolen from Twitter and the practice of selling digital versions of books for less than the cover price.

Cohen also talked about her book, “After Etan,” about the infamous missing child case involving a 6-year-old New York City boy who disappeared 30 years ago. “Before these big prominent cases, we raised our kids a certain way, we had certain beliefs of the safety of walking around as a child,” Cohen said. “And afterwards things changed.”

Her book follows the case from the beginning to the end, when authorities found someone who they thought was guilty of Etan’s death and managed to charge him with something else and put him in prison. However, he is set to be released in 2012. Scary.
