Pair Of New York Times Journalists Arrested In Egypt

Egypt has been anything but a friendly, welcome atmosphere for journalists this week.  Many have been beaten up (see: Anderson Cooper enduring 10 punches to the head), others have been detained, and nearly all seem to be running for their lives avoiding the angry wrath of pro-Mubarak protesters and Egyptian law officers.  The most recent members of the press victimized by the uproar in Egypt are two New York Times reporters who, according to an AP report, have been arrested and taken into protective custody by the military.  The NYT journalists’ names have not yet been released.

UPDATE: A spokesperson from the Times said that the two journalists were “detained by military police overnight in Cairo and are now free.”
