Peter King Extends Contract with SI, Will Direct New Football Blog

Peter King, lover of Brett Favre and all things NFL, is going to be at Sports Illustrated until at least 2016. According to The New York Post, King signed a new deal with SI for three years, at a little over $1 million per year. That makes him one of the highest paid journalists at Time Inc., and one very happy dude.

King told the Post that he did consider going to ESPN, but then realized everyone hates ESPN and decided against it. Kidding!

As part of the deal, King is going to oversee his own football-centric blog. It will be housed at SI.com and will feature all new writers, aside from King.

What’s the new blog going to be called? Paul Fichtenbaum, editor of Time Inc.’s Sports Group, said for now, “we’re just calling it Peter’s site.” It’s damn good to be King.
