Post-Newsweek Chief Alan Frank Getting 2011 Golden Mike

Post-Newsweek president and CEO Alan Frank is set to receive the 2011 Golden Mike Award from the Broadcasters Foundation of America.

The ceremony will take place February 28, 2011 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Post-Newsweek is the official name of the Washington Post Company broadcasting division.

“Throughout his career, Alan has been an example of giving back to the industry and the community,” said Broadcasters Foundation Chair Philip J. Lombardo. “His tireless efforts on behalf of numerous charities and broadcasting organizations have helped countless individuals and advanced our industry forward.”

Before his appointment to the helm of Post-Newsweek, Frank was vice president and general manager at WDIV Detroit; he initially joined the station in 1979 as program manager.

The Broadcasters Foundation has provided millions of dollars in aid to colleagues who lost their livelihood through a catastrophic event, debilitating disease, or unforeseen family tragedy.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was honored with this year’s Golden Mike.
