President-Elect Barack Obama Saves Print for a Day!

nytobel.png

FBNY has heard from someone inside the NYT building that people are continuing to line-up in the lobby to purchase a copy of yesterday’s paper. Seriously. Barack Obama is the future of print for a day! Of course should you not want to hike up to the Times building you can also purchase a copy of the paper online for $15 (though be warned they are apparently experiencing high traffic volumes). It all makes us think that perhaps one way out of debt for the Times would be to make available for order a print version of all of the historical issues of its paper. Not just the front page, the entire thing — there must be a slew of people who would pay for a print copy from, say, December 8, 1941.

Anyway, as we mentioned yesterday, it was a hot day for newspapers. Apparently copies are going on Craigslist for up to $200, which makes us think perhaps the Times should be anonymously selling their copies there. They have debt to solve! Also, there are apparently copies on eBay. We foresee a lot of commemorative issues in our future.
