Prevention Names Pilates Expert Fitness Editor

B00005NIOO.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpgHere’s some early holiday cheer for the magazine industry: Rodale Inc., which holds such fitness titles as Men’s Health, Runner’s World and Bicycling magazine, has just hired one of its freelance contributors as fitness editor for Prevention magazine.

Jessica Cassity has recently worked as a freelance fitness writer for The New York Times, Fitness, Self, Shape and Weight Watchers, as well as Prevention. Previously, she was a contributing editor at Health magazine.

Cassity also co-created the Pilates instructor Web site and worked as Soho community leader for Lululemon, where she managed the apparel company’s community-based programs like free yoga in Bryant Park.

New York, NY — November 23, 2009–Prevention Editor-in-Chief Liz Vaccariello announced today the appointment of Jessica Cassity to Fitness Editor, Prevention. In her new role, Cassity will oversee Prevention’s health and fitness-related editorial content throughout its print and digital properties.

Most recently, Cassity was a freelance fitness contributor to top publications and websites including Prevention, The New York Times, Self, Shape, Fitness, and Weight Watchers. Prior to that, she served as the contributing fitness editor for Health magazine. Cassity, a certified Pilates instructor, co-created, a leading website for Pilates instructors. She was the Soho Community Leader for athletic apparel maker Lululemon, managing a portion of the brand’s community-based programs including free yoga at NYC’s Bryant Park. Cassity began her career at Pilates Style and Dance Spirit magazines. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago with a BA in English.
