Roger Ailes Expands Putnam County Empire

ailes_4-10.jpgHe made his name in TV News (and before that, politics), but Roger Ailes still believes in newspapers. Ailes, the founder and chairman of Fox News Channel & Fox Business Network, and his wife Elizabeth, have purchased the Taconic Press and plan to revive the weekly Putnam County Courier, which was shuttered in February by its previous owners.

Portfolio.com’s Jeff Bercovici reports an editorial by Elizabeth Ailes announced she shares her husbands philosophy in “the thankless task of fair and balanced journalism.”

Ailes bought another Putnam County paper, Putnam County News & Recorder, in July. The news of the recent purchase was first reported by the News & Recorder.
