Slate Names Peggy White the Publisher of Upcoming Double X

Per the release: The Slate Group, publisher of Slate, The Root, The Big Money, and Foreign Policy, today announced it has named Peggy White the Publisher of Double X, a women’s online magazine launching later this year. Double X will provide provocative, lively, in-depth commentary across politics, culture, family, and other topics, while focusing on a woman’s perspective.

White was formerly General Manager of Yahoo! Finance where she was responsible for overseeing all areas of operation and driving sales and advertising for the site. Prior to joining Yahoo! Finance, White served as Vice President and General Manager of BusinessWeek online and was also Vice President of Sales and Business Development for MSNBC.com.

“Peggy has a strong media background and a proven track record in growing sites and attracting the right partners, and we are thrilled to name her Publisher of Double X,” said John Alderman, General Manager of The Slate Group. “She will join the three editors of Double X, Emily Bazelon, Meghan O’Rourke, and Hanna Rosin, and we are confident that this team will be able to create a unique, smart, modern women’s online magazine, attracting an engaged audience and introducing itself as a leader in women’s thought and analysis.”

White’s first day as Publisher of Double X will be March 9, 2009. She will report to Alderman and is based in New York.
