Strike Watch: Best Of The Blogs

Deep into the sixth week, the WGA strikers were greeted yesterday with some hot chocolate via The View’s Whoopi Goldberg (see picture). Today the pickets move to Kingston, New York. Tomorrow is the day to watch, however, as the WGA strikers move to the Viacom building for a ”Future of the Guild” event. ”Anyone not yet in the WGA” — college and high school students as well as future writers — are invited to join the strikers. Special badges will be given out. Sopranos cast members Steve Schirripa and Tony Sirico are expected.
Writers will take any opportunity to let themselves go. The trend of strike beards is, uh, growing. In addition to Late Night with Conan O’Brien Production Manager Jason Chillemi, staffer Aaron Bleyaert, as well as O’Brien himself, a Gawker Stalker says that David Letterman might offering some follicular support.
At Comix last night the AP reports that about 100 people attended last night’s benefit for Write Aid, where a portion of the evening’s benefits went to striking WGA writers. From The AP:
”’I was reading the paper the other day, and it said that Carson Daly went back to work on his TV show,’ (Andy) Borowitz later told the crowd. ‘I was shocked to hear that Carson Daly has a TV show. How is that allowed to happen? We should be striking over that.”’
