WGA East Strikers Have Mixed Feelings On Oscars
Oscar organizers announced today that the show will go on. Vanity Fair's editor Graydon Carter has said that his legendary after party will also go on, if somewhat abbreviated. Samantha Gross of the AP patrolled the pickets yesterday at the Viacom building and found mixed feelings among the WGA East members about the Academy Awards ten weeks into the strike. From the AP via Newsday: ''Asked about rising speculation that the year's entire award season could be in jeopardy, (Terry Curtis Fox) scoffed at the idea that the Oscars were a precious American institution that should be protected by a union waiver. Not everyone agreed. More after the jump ... ''Steve Higgins, a writer and producer on 'Saturday Night Live,' said he hoped the union would make an exception for the Academy Awards.
