There’s Something About That Cameron Diaz Book…

On December 31, Cameron Diaz published her version of a New Year’s female resolutions manifesto. It’s called The Body Book and boy, has it been fun to read the reactions and reviews that have followed. Just today for example, NOW magazine UK showbiz editor Caroline Millington, via her “My Big Fat Diet Blog,” frames a quote from Diaz about not liking sugar as follows:

Oh, do sod off Cameron Diaz. Her ‘love your body beautiful’, The Body Book, is out now. Bleurgh.

Pasadena Star-News Shares Cameron Diaz Nugget

In LA, there are each year a number of intriguing celebrity-tinged stories involving fundraising campaigns for local schools. A FishbowlLA favorite was the time Johnny Depp passed on a personal piece of artwork to the Little Red School House in Hollywood.

James Figueroa, a reporter for the Pasadena Star-News, has shared the latest such tale. One that makes extra good sense when you consider the benevolent A-lister’s recent film credit and the fact that this particular film was shot at the very place where an urban garden was dedicated Wednesday:

Actress Cameron Diaz–who filmed Bad Teacher on Altadena’s Eliot Middle School campus during spring break in 2010–the Environmental Media Association and Sony Pictures helped fund the project with a $10,000 donation. Diaz was unavailable for the ceremony, but EMA board member and actor Mehcad Brooks, known primarily for a supporting role on HBO’s vampire saga True Blood, was on hand.

Maxim Opts for ‘Hot 100′ Ringer

Even though the Maxim Hot 100 issue gives the publication’s editors, yes, one hundred beautiful gals to choose from, guess what? The silhouetted figure selected to adorn the inside section cover page is not one of them.

It’s not quite on the level of the Natalie Portman-Black Swan body double scandal. Still, per an exclusive E! Online blurb by Ted Casablanca and Aly Weisman, an uncredited Maryland model wants to make sure the world knows that those James Bond opening sequence-worthy contours are hers:

“I want people to realize it’s me!” Krista Mills reveals to E! exclusively. “It seems everyone thinks it’s Rosie Huntington-Whitely! I love her but that cover shot is me. People are reporting it’s her, but it’s not.”

An Open Letter To Saturday Night Live

From www.firstwivesworld.com

Debbie Nigro, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Girlfriend of First Wives World, wants the Producers at Saturday Night Live, to know that she doesn’t like the word “Cougar” because it denotes “Bimbos, Floozies, Older Women who can’t attract men their own age.”

In case you didn’t know it, Saturday Night Live has an ongoing “Cougar” skit, starring Cameron Diaz, that is quite funny and cutting edge.

However, the head cheerleader of the 30 million women in the United States who are transitioning through divorce is quick to point that times are a-changing.

“Separate/divorced women nowadays are reinventing themselves, exploring new options,” explains Debbie. “Older men who are leaking testosterone are more often in search of arm candy to validate their masculinity. Younger men, who can hold up their end of the stick, seem to find us fascinating. Who are we to discourage them?”

Debbie warns SNL that they are on to something big. “The ‘Cougar’ trend is about to pick up speed … but for the record, they all don’t look like Cameron Diaz.”

Check out Debbie’s full blog on “Cougars” at www.firstwivesworld.com

Debbie is available for interviews when she is not picking up her boyfriends at their parents’ homes.

Our friends at Haute and Bothered alerted us to a little error in one of our earlier posts. Seems W Magazine’s November issue features nine covers, allowing readers to choose from Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Katie Holmes, Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Simpson, Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz and Lindsay Lohan.

FBLA 20 Questions: Kevin Blatt

kevin-blatt_332x500.jpg

Adult entertainment entrepreneur Kevin Blatt has devoted his life to the selling of hotness. And if anyone is wondering why FBLA asked him to answer our fabled foolish questions, check out #9.

1. What newspapers do you read? I read the NY Times, LA Times, Variety and the Cleveland Plain Dealer mostly for the obituaries.

2. Which ones do you move your lips to while reading? None of them, my reading comprehension skills are pretty good :-) )

3. Which Web sites are on your favorites bookmark? I enjoy reading mediabistro.com, huffingtonpost.com, cnn.com and my favorite, of course, is Lukeisback.com

4. Where do you get your car washed?
Beverly Hills, there is no better people watching in the world than at a Beverly Hills car wash.

5. Do you know your dentist’s first name? Michael, I think.

6. Do you believe newspapers are going to die? If so, when? Newspapers will never die, they are like adult bookstores, people will always want to see, touch, and taste the news-not to mention newspapers are made to clean windows with–they don’t streak glass.

Lunch at Michael’s: A Kareem Dream

lunch_at_michaels_logo.jpgIt’s official — the holidays are over! It’s back to business, people! Now that the weather has finally turned cold (it is January, after all), things are heating up once again at Michael’s. The dining room was abuzz with the usual mix of movers and shakers, moguls and random celebrities (we understand Hugh Grant had a reservation but was stuck at the airport, darn it!) — and plenty of power suits. Even the most jaded regular craned their neck to catch a glimpse of basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar when he arrived shortly after 1:00. While we’re still awaiting the return of some of our favorite friends, there were plenty of boldface names to more than keep us interested.

Here’s the rundown on who was dining and dishing today:

1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a group of unidentified handlers and executives. The NBA hall-of-famer cut a towering figure (he’s 7’2″ after all) as he made his way to his table stopping to shake Al Roker‘s hand en route. Sporting a Tonight Show bomber jacket and penny loafers, he arrived with a copy of his new book, On The Shoulders of Giants, due out at the end of this month from Simon & Schuster, tucked under his arm. The retired L.A. Laker, who has the reputation of being something of a gentle and generous giant himself, writes movingly of Harlem’s renaissance in the upcoming tome. Sounds interesting …

2. Gerry Byrne and guests.

3. MTV’s John Sykes, a hip looking dark-haired beauty and an unidentified gentleman.

4. Norman Pearlstine, and we’re told, Fairchild’s Ed Nardozza.

5. Stanley Jaffe.

6. Today‘s Al Roker, his producer Jackie Olensky and our good pal Today show flack Lauren Kapp. The glowing new mom of two-month-old Oliver Darcy Wraps managed to tear herself away from her bouncing baby boy for the afternoon to catch up with her pals. She showed Diane Clehane, today’s lunchtime chronicler, lots of adorable pics of her bundle of joy. (We’re so impressed you’re out and about already!) Lauren, still on maternity leave, is back at her Today perch on March 1.

7. Vogue‘s Andre Leon Talley and Manolo Blahnik’s main man, George Malkemus. ALT caused quite a stir yesterday at 55th & Fifth when he arrived with newly-minted superstar (and sure to be Oscar-nominated) Jennifer Hudson. We guessing Ms. Hudson is in line to get the full Vogue treatment in an upcoming issue now that she’s arrived on the A list due to her shattering performance in Dreamgirls. We’re also thinking that Andre will step in and style the plus-size glamour gal for the red carpet as he did for Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda) at last year’s Oscars.

E!’s Love Ride Curse

justin_cameron_split.jpgThe reported Justin Timberlake-Cameron Diaz split — the first big one of 2007 — has celebrity media outlets in a tizzy. You know who else is in a tizzy? E! gossipist Michael Malkin, who appears to’ve been counting down the minutes since Britney dropped K-Fed to write this:

Perhaps Timberlake and Diaz are the latest victims of E!’s Love Ride curse. If Timberlake and Diaz are over, that means three of the eight couples featured in the new series have gone kaput. With Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock along with Britney Spears and Kevin Federline over, who’s left to worry about the curse? Brangelina, TomKat, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, and Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

Three of eight, huh? That’s not exactly Madden Curse territory.
