Scout Willis Talks to The Village Voice

Today’s item by Village Voice staff writer Anna Merlan has three blog content tags. The one that jumped out to us: Breasts.

ShutterstockScoutWillisMerlan’s exclusive interview with Bruce Willis and Demi Moore‘s daughter Scout about this week’s Instagram brouhaha is also filed under ‘Celebrities’ and ‘Protest,’, but if you click the ‘Breasts’ tag, you will get a fascinating refresher on other recent topless matters. From Merlan’s article:

The [Instagram] deletions were particularly galling for Willis because she had a breast reduction surgery several years ago, and has only recently come to feel comfortable with her body.

“It was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. It completely changed my relationship to my body,” she says. “I felt so empowered and love my breasts so much. I don’t feel like wearing a bra.”

Chicago Transplant Grapples with NYC Dating Scene ‘Ghosting’

ShutterstockWomanTextingSteve Heisler is a comedian and freelance writer based in Brooklyn who has contributed to GQ, Variety, The AV Club and other outlets. He has also this week, via Time Out New York, stepped on to the battle-of-the-sexes soapbox.

Heisler moved to New York five years ago and even though it happened to him personally as recently again as Christmas 2013, he still can’t quite come to terms with one particular wrinkle of the New York dating scene. A behavior and slang term that muddy the mental picture of Demi Moore crying while navigating a pottery spinwheel:

Have you heard the term ghosting? I hadn’t until moving to New York City from Chicago; now I use it regularly. It’s when you have a bunch of awesome dates with somebody, and then one day, they suddenly stop responding to your texts: They have ghosted you…

It’s Time to Admit It: Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin are a Classic Comedy Duo

The medium of television and the sensibilities of comedy are vastly different today than they were during the runs of such gold-standard bearers as Mike Nichols and Elaine May, George Burns and Gracie Allen or Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. So just to preface this for comedy purists; we would never suggest that a 21st century couple, atop today’s fractured media landscape, could ever lay claim to that kind of titanic yucks aura.

GriffinCooperNYEHowever… As a sign of just how much we have come to love the NYE shenanigans of one Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper, FishbowlNY has no trouble admitting that we DVR-ed the entire thing December 31 and watched the entire thing January 1. And enjoyed every minute of it.

This year’s seventh go-round (by Cooper’s count) or eighth (by Griffin’s) ranks as the best so far. Largely because, after a couple of borderline years, Griffin seems to have finally read the contractual fine print and figured out more nimbly than ever how to straddle the Times Square barrier.

One of the highlights of Cooper-Griffin 2013 was when she launched into the first of several recurring bits mocking her co-host’s banal tweets and starved-for-attention Twitter M.O. Cooper was literally doubled over with laughter as Griffin put on her therapist party hat:

“Why do you read every single [reply] tweet?”

“I know the hurt little boy who lives inside the model body. He’s five-years-old. Mommy’s missing, she’s at Studio 54. His soup is cold… And all he wants is love. So he’s reading every, single tweet…”

EXCLUSIVE: Lost Arlene Dahl Interview Highlights One of Hollywood’s Unlikeliest Age-Gap Romances

If you Google the name of retired Hollywood actress Arlene Dahl, the primary search result is a wonderful 1985 article by People magazine reporter John Stark. Today, FishbowlLA is thrilled to be able to add to this strand by means of a “lost” interview done with Dahl ahead of her July 1984 marriage to Marc Rosen.

Separated in age by 18 years, the two tied the knot several decades after the coupling of Mae West and Chester Rybinski/Paul Novak, and years ahead of two other more famous older-woman-younger man Hollywood unions: Susan Sarandon-Tim Robbins and Demi Moore-Ashton Kutcher. Unlike those last two pairings, Dahl and Rosen are still together today, in spite of an age difference greater than that of Moore-Kutcher (15 1/2 years) or Sarandon-Robbins (12 years).

In the lost, pre sixth-wedding conversation, Dahl explains why she has been married so many times and candidly shares her concerns about the Rosen age difference. Her union was sealed long before the term “cougar” was coined by a Canadian dating site in 1999 and further popularized in a 2001 book by Valerie Gibson. But if the Internet had been around back then, you can be sure bloggers would have made liberal use of the term. From the lost interview:

“I was raised in the Midwest and I’ve done everything according to form. I’ve been a very old-fashioned girl. I don’t have romance until I get married. And I always [until now] marry an older man.”

What Would Carrie Bradshaw Think? Sarah Jessica Parker is NOT in Linda Lovelace Sundance Pic

Nice little exclusive from EW senior writer Anthony Breznican heading into the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. He got word from the makers of Lovelace that after a lot of casting drama involving Sarah Jessica Parker for the role of Gloria Steinhem, it all wound up on the cutting room floor:

Parker was a last-minute addition to the film, which features Amanda Seyfried in the life story of the woman who starred in the 1972 X-rated movie Deep Throat. The Sex and the City actress was an emergency fill-in for Demi Moore, who dropped out of the movie in the middle of production after she suffered unspecified health problems and was hospitalized…

With the film now just days away from its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman have told EW that it turned out they didn’t need the character after all. Parker, who played the role of feminist icon Gloria Steinem, has joined a long list of actors left on the cutting room floor.

Demi Moore Reportedly Hospitalized for Whippit Use

Demi Moore‘s hospitalization on Monday night for “exhaustion” has many speculating on what could have made her so damn tired. Now TMZ claims to know.

An unnamed source identified only as a friend of Moore told the tabloid website that they were inhaling whippits Monday when the 49-year-old actress had a bad reaction and “lapsed into semi-consciousness.” Paramedics were called, and you know the rest.

Whippits, in case you’re wondering, are small canisters of nitrous oxide. Inhaled, they give the user a quick, giddy high, and are primarily used by teenagers and people too broke to buy real drugs. Also, they can give you a nasty headache. Or so we’re told.

Ashton Kutcher in Trouble for Pro-Paterno Tweet

Ashton Kutcher tweeted the above before he learned about the child sex abuse scandal that was the reason for Paterno’s firing. And boy, is he sorry he did.

Twitter users quickly piled on Kutcher, who is an outspoken activist in the fight against the sexual exploitation of children. Kutcher quickly tweeted his remorse:

@Plusk: Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn’t have full story. #admitwhenYoumakemistakes
