Livingly Media Relaunches Lonny.com

In 1879, a certain Brooklyn brownstone was completed in what is known as the Clinton Hill neighborhood. Today, an article about the refurbishment of that brownstone (pictured, below) is part of a clean, crisp new-look version of home-design portal lonny.com. The complete overhaul of this five-year-old brand went live at noon ET today.

“We no longer felt the need to constrain our design to mimic the shape of a print magazine,” Livingly VP of content John Newlin tells FishbowlNY via email. “Several years ago, the idea of a magazine ‘replica’ helped us communicate our mission to readers and sell advertisements to clients and partners. But now, we’re seeing 35% of Lonny readers coming to the site on mobile devices (tablets or Smartphones), and that number is growing.”

Livingly Media Firing – and Hiring – on All Cylinders

LivinglyMediaWe recently had the pleasure of chatting with Livingly Media VP of content John Newlin. The results of that conversation are now available as part of Mediabistro’s ongoing Q&A series “So What Do You Do…?

Livingly operates three major Web destinations and is looking to fill positions for all properties. Lonny is in need of an art director and designer; StyleBistro is currently looking for an editor; and Zimbio has a TV editor position open. And per our conversation, this Livingly state of affairs is set to soon be amplified:

“We’re definitely launching a couple more sites. We’re not sure which one will come next, but it will happen sometime later [in 2014]. It will be in the lifestyles category…”

StyleBistro Welcomes New Executive Editor

StyleBistro has done pretty well for itself since launching in the summer of 2010. According to comScore, the site is the sixth most popular in the U.S. in the fashion/style/beauty category and now has some new editorial stewardship to push those numbers higher.

AnnBradyNYFWAnn Brady (pictured) comes to StyleBistro from the Shopzilla search engine beso.com. She has also served as a contributing editor for In Style‘s e-commerce site stylefind.com and as senior associate fashion editor at Lucky magazine. From today’s announcement:

Glamour Online Editor Heads to Zimbio

Danica Lo, Glamour’s Senior Online Fashion and Beauty Editor since last year, is leaving to join Zimbio’s StyleBistro.com as Executive Editor.

Prior to her time at Glamour, Lo was the founding editor of Racked.com and before that served as a fashion columnist for The New York Post for seven years.

“Danica very clearly understands how to create a web experience that appeals to a broad audience, while at the same time, she has one of the most uniquely fresh voices covering women’s fashion and beauty on the Internet or in print,” said John Newlin, Editor-in-Chief of Zimbio Inc.

Lo starts on June 1.
