Condé Nast Insisting They Still Feel Lucky

Per a quick follow-up item from Women’s Wear Daily media editor Alexandra Steigrad, the folks in charge at both Lucky magazine and Condé Nast are aggressively denying a Wednesday Page Six report that the magazine is about to be shelved.

The WWD-obtained notes by Lucky EIC Eva Chen, her publisher and Condé Nast CEO Charles Townsend all bang the reassurance drum, hard. Here for example is part of what Chen had to say:

Lucky‘s May issue was up nearly 20 percent and, for February through May, the publication is up two percent in paging, the editor said, explaining that they outpaced the competition, which logged a 6.2 percent decline in May and a 4.2 percent dip in the four-month period. Chen also noted that Lucky is up three percent in subscriptions from December of last year over December 2012.

Diddy Bids $200 Million for Fuse Network

Sean Combs — otherwise known as Diddy, Puffy, Puff, P. Diddy, or Puff Daddy depending on the day of the week — has bid about $200 million for Fuse cable TV network. Bloomberg News reports that Diddy plans to fold Fuse into Revolt, the network he founded last year.

With the buy, Revolt would increase its distribution by over 70 million homes. Currently, Revolt reaches about 22 million homes and is carried by Comcast and Time Warner Cable. Fuse, on the other hand, reaches about 74 million homes through DirecTV and Dish Network.

One obstacle that might keep Diddy from being the proud new owner of Fuse? His bid. A Bloomberg analyst said that “An offer of $200 million seems low for almost 75 million households.”

If Diddy’s offer is accepted — he is one of several bidders — early word is that each show on the new combined network will be hosted by Dylan.

Artists Sing the Praises of File Sharing While Entertainment Execs Seethe

The free file hosting service Megaupload is on the entertainment industry’s s**t list for making copyright infringement so easy-peasy. But several high-profile artists – the sort that create that copyrighted material in the first place – have recently expressed their unabashed support for the site in a new music video.

In the “Megaupload Mega Song,” Will.i.am, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, P. Diddy, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Lil John, Kim Kardashian, and more express their love for a service that lets you share their copyrighted material for free. I never thought I’d say this, but I have a newfound respect for Kim Kardashian.

The video was released over the weekend, and was quickly removed from YouTube, after Universal Music Group complained about – what else – copyright infringement.

Jimmy Fallon Slow Jams the News

Jimmy Fallon slow jams the news on his show with a surprise (well, it could have been if we didn’t just spoil it) appearance by P. Diddy.

We like any television news where people aren’t screaming over each other. We hope this is a trend! Make it a whole network. Let’s do this.

“Rasmussen is an outlier!”

Lots of People Want To Work For Diddy

Rapper, fashion designer, and music mogul P. Diddy is looking for a personal assistant and he turned to mediabistro for help. Diddy posted an ad on our job board seeking applicants with a “big personality” who can be “available and on-call 24/7.” His search for a right hand man (or woman) is going to be televised on VH1 for the second season of the reality show “I Want To Work For Diddy.”

On Saturday, FishbowlNY joined mediabistro’s education team and TV reporting instructor Manoush Zomorodi to get a sneak peak at the candidate pool for Diddy’s new assistant position and to offer hopeful job seekers some on-the-spot interviewing tips.

And it may have been a brisk weekend in New York, but things got a little heated inside…

Golden Globe Gossip Continues: Rushfield Nails It, E! Tails It

185751__globe_l.jpg

Richard Rushfield recounts his Golden Globe experience in Kudos-crasher, for the LA Times. Kudos crasher sounds like he smashes cookies, but whatever. He’s the funniest writer in the paper. He overhears Donald Trump bragging about his star to Brian Glazer and P. Diddy telling Mary Lynn Rasjkub from 24 that she’s “one hundred percent true gangster”. FBLA thinks he said gangsta, but the copy desk must have intervened. And Rushfield gets the best line about the Golden Globes ever:

When asked about her show coming up empty tonight, Weeds creator Jenji Kohan tells me, “If I cared about the opinions of 90 foreign strangers, I’d be a hooker outside the U.N.”

Eonline’s Kristin Veitch live-blogged and misses nothing. She caught Tim Gunn in an unguarded moment:

He gushed over America Ferrera, calling her purple gown “a gem in a jewel tone,” then smiled pleasantries to Chloe Sevigny’s classy black and white gown, but his face fell into brief moment of disgust as she twirled around and showed her dominatrix shoes.

She should pod-cast her commentary for the Oscars, so we can watch and listen with her in our ear, like a great funny, bitchy girl-friend.
