“The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Greater Los Angeles celebrated its first wish of the 2010 Season of Wishes® campaign at The Grove with Rafael Espinoza, a 16-year-old wish child who was surprised with a custom made BMX bike and riding gear. Rafael, who though he was attending the event to raise awareness of his illness, Abdominal Sarcoma, was presented with his own custom bike, after he finished sharing his story with the crowd. In addition to the bike, Rafael, and the crowd, were treated to a show by a BMX trick rider, Shawn White, who executed difficult tricks and shared a few tips about BMX riding with Rafael.

Leno’s Back at Late Night Line-Up: American Heroes and Zeros

NBC’s revival of their prime time line-up, er Jay Leno moving back to late night, starts next week. His guests include athletes who won gold at the Olympics like Apolo Ohno, Lindsay Vonn and Shaun White and others who are just famous for being trashy and on TV like the Jersey Shore kids, Kim Kardashian and Sarah Palin.

Monday, March 1 – Guests include Jamie Foxx, the Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and a musical performance by Brad Paisley

Ex-MTVi CEO Launches Snowboarding Video Site

Nicholas Butterworth, former CEO of MTVi who launched a Travel Channel meets YouTube broadband video site last October, has carved out another Web video niche: snowboarding. His NYC-based Diversion Media just announced their second launch, Snowvision, you know, for all those tech-savvy snowboarders (no, really — have you seen that Shaun White HP commercial?).

The current site offerings are pretty much limited to the standard clips of epic snowboard footage interspersed with three-minute instructional videos [above] with guys named Dingo and Gooner. But there’s plenty on the way, says Butterworth.

Ironically, both Butterworth and former MTV digital chief and current Sling Media dude Jason Hirschhorn, colleagues at MTVi, are back in dot-com startup mode with video projects.

Butterworth, by the way, plans to launch additional video sites in 2007.
