Glossy Mag Ignores Lindsay Lohan’s Rep

ShutterstockLindsayLohan2013Last week, we wrote about OK! magazine’s inventive Jennifer Aniston cover story. This week, once again per Gossip Cop, it’s deja voodoo all over again as the magazine is making up more great stories. With yet another noteworthy twist.

It’s one thing to falsely allege that Tom Cruise and Lindsay Lohan hooked up in London. It’s quite another to race towards deadline with that fable after a rep for one of the celebrities has confirmed “Tom & Lindsay: IT’S ON!” is way off. From Gossip Cop associate editor Shari Weissreport:

The entire OK! dating premise was a “lie,” Lohan’s rep told Gossip Cop exclusively. Lohan’s spokesperson even revealed to us that she told the tabloid that its story was wrong and laughable, and yet the magazine still chose to run it.

David Perel Replaces Candace Trunzo at Star Magazine

On Monday night, American Media chief executive officer David Pecker dismissed Candace Trunzo, the editor-in-chief of Star since 2007, WWD reports.

Former National Enquirer editor David Perel, who has been running AMI’s RadarOnline.com, will take over.

A source tells WWD that Pecker wants Star to be “increasingly anticelebrity and mean,” which may be why Perel, a veteran of the Enquirer, has been given the helm.

So can we expect fewer weight loss winners, and more weight loss losers at Star in the future?

Not quite. Perel insisted to the New York Post that Radar Online is “very celebrity friendly. We’re going to bring a little of that over here.”

Playboy Strikes Deal With AMI

Hugh Hefner‘s publishing empire’s stock has fallen drastically in the last five years, and the recent economic downturn dealt a major blow to the magazine industry, and drew speculation that Playboy was no longer a sustainable enterprise. (In September alone, Playboy‘s ad pages fell 35 percent.) Turns out, the rumors were only half right.
