All You Expands Outside Walmart

All You, the Time Inc. publication targeting readers on a budget, is taking a big step. All You has been sold exclusively in Walmart’s and Sam’s Club’s since it launched in 2004, but starting in April, it will be sold in other retailers, such as Safeway, Target, CVS, Walgreens and Barnes & Noble.

All You’s publisher, Suzanne Quint, said the decision to expand the glossy’s distribution was driven by a change in peoples’ behavior. Quint described this phenomenon as “cross-shopping;” essentially, people are using more than just one platform to shop.

“Recognizing this cross-shopping behavior, All You is expanding distribution to meet the needs of this growing population and realize untapped consumer demand,” Quint said, in a statement. “With our expansion we’re looking forward to reaching more consumers wherever they shop and continuing to drive sales for marketers.”

In anticipation of the move, All You has increased its rate base by 50,000.

All You to Increase Rate Base

Jan2014All You is raising its rate base from 1.5 million to 1.55 million, beginning with its January 2014 issue. This marks the 11th increase since the magazine launched in 2004.

“Strong consumer demand, passionate reader engagement, robust subscription renewals, and success in school fundraising programs, have helped fuel the brand’s growth,” said Suzanne Quint, All You’s publisher, in a statement. “We’re proud to connect with a resourceful, social community of women who are committed to finding the best value for their families.”

All You also enjoyed strong ad sales to close out the year. The magazine’s December ad pages were up almost 11 percent compared to December 2012.

ALLYOU.com Appoints New General Manager

Jonathan Hills has been named general manager of  Time Inc. Lifestyle Group’s ALLYOU.com. Hills is responsible for leading strategic development and business operations, including growing audience, creating partnerships, and overseeing digital content and product development. He will report directly to publisher Suzanne Quint beginning on February 6th.

“Digital media has completely transformed the way that women think about shopping and saving,” said Quint. “Jonathan’s proven leadership, enthusiasm for our brand, and expertise across all platforms will help ALL YOU lead this revolution by offering great solutions for both consumers and marketers.”

Prior to joining Time Inc., Hills was general manager of Reader’s Digest Digital, where he worked on e-commerce initiatives, advertising sales, strategic partnerships and product development strategy.

“ALL YOU is a powerful, robust, highly differentiated brand with an engaged audience and clear consumer vision,” said Hills. “This is an incredible opportunity to grow the brand’s influence online, especially now, as consumers recalibrate their spending and seek ways to live better on less.”

Two Moves at Time’s Lifestyle Group

There were two moves announced today within Time Inc.’s Lifestyle Group: Renée Tulenko is now the Associate Publisher of All You and Lana LoRusso is now the Associate Publisher of Health. Tulenko was most recently Associate Publisher of Health, where she had worked since 2003, and LoRusso comes to Health from Shape, where she was Associate Publisher of Sales.

Tulenko will report to Suzanne Quint, Publisher of All You, beginning tomorrow. “We could not be more excited for Renée to use her passion and energy to help marketers capitalize on All You’s distinctly strong consumer connection across all of our platforms,” said Quint.

Likewise, LoRusso will report to Health’s Publisher, Kevin White. “Lana’s industry knowledge and expertise make her an ideal addition to Health as we continue to evolve the brand across all platforms,” said White.
